Cabela's without Power...
Jul. 14th, 2005 02:31 pmSome terrible thunderstorms at home while we were preparing dinner. Man it was raining... The rain gutters couldn't keep up.
Went to Cabela's last night after Barry cooked me and the girls a very tasty spaghetti dinner. Cabela's didn't have power... which was very interesting... they remained open on generators! Every third light or so was on, and the cash registers worked... just about all other power in the place was off. How cool! It felt like "roughing it" in the camping store. LOL I was very impressed that they had enough forethought to build the place with generators enough to continue operations even without power.
We didn't find the shower heater that we were hoping to find (as I feared, the girls had seen something but it wasn't what they thought)... but the girls found what they were looking for. I think I'll stop at Home Depot tonight on my way home and see if they have one. Barry and I want to build a shower in the back of our campsite... and I want to get a "point-of-use" shower heater... one that will heat the water right there as you need it. I would prefer an electric one so that it will be no-maintenance. These "point-of-use" heaters are all-over in England -- basically one of the only ways they generate hot-water over there. My sister and I don't understand why they haven't caught on here in the States.
